The Barbco BBC55 Retractable Cone Head (RCH) is designed for use in hard rock auger boring applications, offering flexibility and durability in challenging ground conditions. Unlike traditional fixed roller cone heads, the RCH features a retractable design that allows contractors to remove the head mid-bore for downhole inspection, head changes, or maintenance.

Each RCH unit is equipped with a 12.25″ center-mounted tri-cone cutter and 12.25″ welded single cutters on all sides. The tri-cone is hexed in rather than threaded, improving durability and making removal and servicing more straightforward. The head is rated for use in rock up to 20,000 psi.

For optimal performance and longevity, the RCH should be used with a water cooling system. It is compatible with Barbco’s air-way auger, but can also be used independently with two to three water lines and regular cutter maintenance.
