NUCA Pipe Stand

We were honored to take on this pipe stand project for the Chief Executive Officer of @nuca_national ! This pipe stand showcases an original wooden pipe and connector dating back to the 1850’s. We are extremely happy with the final product and are excited for NUCA to display it for years to come. 🇺🇸 More information on the origin and history of the actual pipe below;

NUCA Pipe Stand“From the Galesburg, Illinois,

railroad yard infrastructure. Galesburg has had a large railroad presence since 1854.
Four original lines – The Aurora Branch, Central Military Tract, Peoria & Oquawka, and the Northern Cross – eventually merged to form the foundation of the CB&Q system in Illinois. The formation of the railroad into and through Galesburg in four directions had a dramatic effect on the community. The population grew rapidly, and the building trades prospered, giving the area the resources and labor to install this kind of cost-effective water infrastructure. (Cast iron would not see widespread use outside of urban areas until the late 19th century.)
The wood pipe was installed in the 1850s, most likely in the 1857-59 period, as part of the city’s infrastructure build-out. Resources were made available to the town because of the railroad yard’s expansion, and the construction of the city railroad station.
This wood pipe was excavated in 2017 or 2018. It was not in use at the time, and was in an old railroad grade area undergoing infrastructure renovations. It was in the ground about 160 years.
